The body of a nine-year-old boy was found dumped on the road on Sunday morning, May 8 in Al-Nasiriya town in
Wirshiffana district, Libya. Ehab Al-Maedani had been abducted by Wirshiffana
criminal gangs for about 10 days before the kidnappers decided to kill
him and throw him on the road as his family failed to pay the LYD2,000
ransom they demanded.
According to Libya Observer, this criminality by Wirshiffana bandits, who are
part of the so-called Tribes Army and loyalists to Gaddafi as well as to
the Dignity Operation led by renegade General Khalifa Haftar, is so
far unnoticed by the international human rights organisations, such as
Human Rights Watch and by the UNSMIL, allowing it to become a hub for
bandits and criminals.
